Research at Ashoka

Ashoka University is a research university, creating new knowledge for the benefit of humankind. Research by members of Ashoka, across schools, departments and centres of the university, advances the frontiers of knowledge and innovation.

Interdisciplinary research is central to Ashoka University. Ashoka’s research integrates the humanities, social sciences, sciences, mathematics and computer science.

Research at Ashoka is driven by curiosity and the pursuit of excellence — whether it’s exploring fundamental questions in physics or understanding the layered history of the Indian subcontinent. Ashoka has a large number of national and international research collaborations. Its faculty are internationally recognised and many have received prominent awards for their research.

Research and Development Office

The Research and Development Office (RDO) is the strategic hub at the University that assists faculty Members, scholars, and other researchers at Ashoka in managing their research. The office plays a central role in strengthening the university’s research ecosystem and supporting ongoing and upcoming research initiatives.

The RDO helps Ashoka members apply for, and secure, external grant funding for their research. It handles the administration of extramural grants, also providing end-to-end research infrastructure management, running Ashoka’s PhD programmes and effectively communicating research at Ashoka to a broader audience.
