10 Years is Just the Foundation of Building Ashoka: Eshwara Venkatesam, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Ashoka University
Eshwara Venkatesam, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Development, Placements and Alumni Relations), Ashoka University, reflects on a decade of growth and looks forward to an even more exciting future
“It’s amazing that Ashoka University has completed 10 years of its journey. I distinctly remember when we weren’t even born as a University and had to travel to Chandigarh to meet government officials to get various permissions, and then the campus that began construction back in 2012-13 got accelerated as we got our permissions. The first YIF batch came in July 2014 and the undergrads came in August 2014 and it’s been such a phenomenal journey since then.
We are winding up the academic year 2024 with almost 3,000 students, and it’s a dream come true. And the big contributor to the success has been all the factors of the University coming together to help build institutions. The outstanding faculty that teaches and conducts research, the amazing student body with students from all parts of the country, some parts of the world, from the farthest corners of India, the administrators who run the University and keep the engine going, the donors who have funded and supported the institution and its various initiatives.
The combination of all these factors has led to an outstanding journey and I look forward to the many years ahead in trying to put a homegrown Indian institution on the world map. I think that’s the big goal. 10 years is just the foundation of building Ashoka, but the next 15 years promise to be more exciting and I look forward to the journey ahead with a lot of eagerness and with a lot of expectations.”
