Ashoka’s 10 Years of Excellence, Many More to Go: Somak Raychaudhury, Vice-Chancellor, Ashoka University

As we celebrate 10 years of Ashoka University, we are so proud that in this short period of time, we have built a university where 3,000 students are currently studying subjects across the liberal arts and sciences spectrum.

We have successfully established a postgraduate and research environment that empowers scholars to excel in their respective areas of interest. Our campus is also undergoing an expansion from its initial academic buildings to a sprawling 100-acre site, poised for rapid growth in the coming years. This growth includes an increase in the number of students, an expansion of subjects offered, and a rise in faculty numbers. We are committed to establishing a research university, a rarity in the Indian educational landscape. Here, both students and faculty actively engage in learning and research, leading to the creation of knowledge, especially in interdisciplinary fields.

Ashoka is currently focusing on the intersections of sciences, humanities, and social sciences, actively developing initiatives in these intriguing areas of overlap. Students engage in research alongside faculty, progressing steadily. Even at the undergraduate level, they undertake research projects, preparing them for advanced study in our graduate and PhD programmes. Over the next few years, we plan to expand our scientific endeavours and cultivate an innovative research environment, aiming to position Ashoka University as a leading institution in India and among the top universities globally.

As Ashoka celebrates its 10th year, I extend my congratulations to everyone in the Ashoka community – students, staff, faculty, and the founders who have contributed to our unique journey. I look forward to a long and prosperous future for our university as we blossom into one of the top institutions worldwide.
